Clarkson在本季和湖人以4年5千萬美元的合約續約，目前為止場均可攻下14.9分、2.7籃板、2.3助攻、1.7抄截，投籃命中率是生涯最佳的46.8％；在提到聯盟中優秀的第六人時，Clarkson也會是被列入討論的人選。
這麼優異的表現幾乎都讓人忘了Clarkson當年是在選秀末段才被挑走的球員，湖人在2014年以第二輪第46順位選進Clarkson，值得注意的是湖人差一點就錯過他了。電動床工廠
根據《RealGM》的報導，當年湖人球團本來是想選進畢業於路易斯威爾大學的控球後衛Russ Smith，在Ryan West以及Jesse Buss的極力遊說之下，湖人才改變心意挑中Clarkson。
這兩位伯樂是何許人也？Ryan West是曾任湖人總管、在1996年選進Kobe Bryant的Jerry West之子；Jesse Buss則是已故的湖人老闆Jerry Buss的兒子。
至於湖人原本想選進的Smith表現怎麼樣呢？他僅僅留下平均1.5分0.6籃板0.7助攻的成績便消失於NBA，現已轉戰土耳其職籃討生活。
